Ethical Dog Training You Can Trust

At Balance Behaviour, we believe that ethical, professional training is the foundation of happy, well-adjusted dogs and confident owners. As a certified dog behaviourist, I combine positive reinforcement techniques with a deep understanding of canine behaviour to provide thoughtful, effective support.

This code of ethics outlines my commitment to your dog's wellbeing, responsible ownership, and maintaining the highest standards of professional integrity.

1. Positive Reinforcement & Humane Methods

We use and advocate training methods that focus on reinforcing desired behaviours while addressing unwanted behaviours without causing fear, harm or distress.

We do not support the use of techniques or equipment that rely on pain, fear, or intimidation.

2. Client & Dog Wellbeing

All behaviour and training programmes are designed with your dog’s physical and emotional wellbeing in mind.

We also support and guide owners in developing responsible, informed, and compassionate relationships with their dogs.

3. Professional Integrity & Honesty

We conduct ourselves with honesty, professionalism, and compassion, always working within the principles set out in this code.

We recognise our professional limits and will refer clients to other appropriate specialists where needed.

While we do not promise specific training outcomes, we are committed to delivering a high standard of service and client experience.

4. Continuous Learning & Expertise

We stay up to date with developments in canine behaviour and training methods.

New approaches and theories are carefully evaluated and adopted only when they genuinely benefit our clients and their dogs.

5. Confidentiality & Respect

We respect our clients' privacy and comply fully with data protection regulations.

Information about you, your dog, or your household will never be shared without your written consent.

We also show respect for fellow trainers and behaviour professionals, and do not engage in public criticism of others.

6. Ethical Client Relationships

We maintain professional boundaries at all times and never exploit client relationships for personal or financial gain.

We strive to be approachable, respectful, and empathetic in all interactions.
